Shawn entered the gym with his foster family, unsure of what to expect. He had only entered foster care a few weeks earlier. He was told they were going to a Christmas party and he had been sad on the trip over, again reminded he may not see his family on Christmas day. Upon entering the gym some of his worries melted away, he saw many other kids his age and the music was happy. His caseworker came over to say hi and welcome him to the event. He could smell something delicious, he realized they were having his favorite – chicken fingers. He saw a row of dipping sauces and realized they even had his favorite, BBQ. 

The evening went very quickly, but Shawn couldn’t stop smiling. He visited Santa with his foster parents and foster siblings. He stocked up on prizes from the games, even winning a stuffed animal. His worker came over with a wrapped gift, and wished him a Merry Christmas. She told him that Santa asked them to pass out gifts. Shawn quickly tore into paper…he couldn’t believe it! His very own PlayStation controller in his fave color blue. No more taking turns with his foster siblings. He finished the evening with stacking a plate full of cookies to take home. When he was tucked in at bedtime he had his new bear hugged tight, and his new PlayStation controller in his right hand. It was the best night ever!

After a two year hiatus we are excited to bring back our party for foster families and independent living youth. This opportunity gives our kids a chance to believe in the magic of the holiday season, and enjoy an evening of food, fun, games and a visit from Santa.  These memories are only made with generous donors like you!  This is specifically how your donation will help:
