For the second quarter of FY23 we would like to recognize Brittany Cowart for Living the Mission of CHOICES. Brittany started at CHOICES as a young intern eager to work in the independent living program. She has grown tremendously and now serves as the Team Lead for our foster care department.
Brittany has shown she is always up for a challenging situation with youth and families. It is common for Brittany to sit with a foster parent until late hours of the night due to a crisis. Brittany takes it upon herself to be a rock to all of her parents during difficult situations, reassuring them they are not alone. She is an advocate on any treatment team to ensure her youth get the best care and opportunities possible. Brittany is what you imagine a social worker to be, caring, knowledgeable, hardworking and probably a little tired BUT fulfilled with all the lives she has touched. She is always going the extra mile for her kids, attending too many of her clients events to list but to name a few… sporting events, graduations, choir concerts, band concerts and she doesn’t miss an adoption.
Brittany is a leader in the foster care department and is often found training staff and supporting the development of new social workers. She has created detailed trainings on various reports to improve caseworker skills. Brittany works tirelessly to make sure the foster care caseworkers don’t face difficult situations alone. She is proactive in finding out what her coworkers enjoy for snacks – to offer sweet surprises or comfort during difficult situations. In fact, staff love to eat pretty much anything Brittany makes from her breakfast casserole to pumpkin cookies and the BEST guacamole.
We are grateful for all Brittany does to serve CHOICES, her team, parents, and kids. During her time with CHOICES she has served on almost every committee for events and fun. Even helping with the daunting task of sorting Christmas gifts for foster youth. We appreciate your commitment, compassion and innovation in leading others and serving our kids and families.
