CHOICES is committed to providing the most relevant and up to date training for our staff and families! Last week our new staff (and those wanting a refresher) participated in a two day training about trauma.
We are lucky enough to have our own staff leader, Jessica Michels, LISW-S, who is certified to train this the TLC model. CHOICES staff from foster care, independent living, bridges and home-based services attended this informative training.
The objectives of the training included, learning the definition of trauma, a basic understanding of trauma informed care, and sensory interventions to use with youth. The sensory interventions are always helpful to our team members to incorporate in their sessions. There also was a bit of role playing during the learning process.
Thank you to Jessica for facilitating another awesome training for our team. This was a huge benefit in learning new skills for all those that attended. It also provided a chance to get to know co-workers in other departments. No CHOICES activity would be complete unless there was delicious food and snacks, we believe in feeding the mind, belly and soul!
