Intensive Home-Based Therapy

CHOICES is now offering Intensive Home Based Therapy! (IHBT). IHBT under Ohio RISE provides intensive, time-limited behavioral health services for children, youth, and families in their homes. The service helps stabilize and improve a young person’s behavioral health functioning, aiming to prevent out-of-home placements and support successful living at home, in school, and in the community. At this time CHOICES is only able to offer this to Montgomery county residents.

Are you looking to make a referral for IHBT services for your child?

Why your Child might benefit from IHBT:

Your child may benefit from Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT) if they struggle with serious emotional or behavioral challenges that risk out-of-home placement, such as hospitalization or foster care. Signs include ongoing family conflict, difficulty functioning at school, or frequent mental health crises. IHBT is ideal for children who need intensive, home-centered support to stabilize behavior, strengthen family dynamics, and remain in their community.

After referring your child to Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT), you can expect:

  1. Assessment: A mental health professional will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, often using tools like the Ohio Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment, to determine your child’s needs.
  2. Personalized Treatment Plan: If eligible, a plan will be developed with input from your family, focusing on your child’s behavioral health goals and family dynamics.
  3. In-Home Services: A team will provide therapy and support in your home or community, addressing issues like communication, crisis management, and family relationships. 3-5 five hours per week.
  4. 24/7 Support: Access to crisis intervention services, ensuring help is available when needed.
  5. Regular Progress Reviews: Ongoing sessions and evaluations to track improvement and adjust the plan as necessary.
