February is here, the season of love, all things red and pink and delicious candy! If you are part of the CHOICES family you know that our kids are in need for, and more importantly deserve, love and encouragement every day. So why not shower our kids with a little extra love from now until Valentine’s Day? With your help we are doing something new for our independent living youth.
As many of you know when a young adult is placed in our independent living program we furnish an apartment for them. We provide the basics to outfit a bedroom and living room. We provide must have items for the kitchen and bathroom as well as cleaning supplies and funds to do grocery shopping. New placements have the necessities to get started and then we start to work on the education and vocation piece of the program.
While many are thankful for a place to call home, the minimums we provide can often make an apartment feel sterile and unwelcoming. Today we are asking for your support to “fluff” up their apartment and really make it a place they can call home. Kids in the program often go without curtains, pictures, extra blankets, rugs and all those things that make your space feel cozy and inviting! We believe a little “fluff” will go a long way in welcoming these young people to our program. We hope we can count on you to help!
It is a unique time at CHOICES where in the period of a month we expect to place 10 kids in the independent living program. What better time to Welcome them Home with some extra love!? We have a goal to raise $1,000 between now and February 14. Whether you can give $10 or $100 we hope you will consider showing some love to our kids who need it most. $100 will be set aside for each of these placements to decorate their apartment.
Donate easily online by clicking here or checks can be mailed to our office at 1785 Big Hill Rd. Dayton, OH 45439. A super shopper volunteer (who happens to love bargains and deals) will then set out with the specifics for each of these youth and purchase as much as she can to make their apartment more inviting!
