Success Story: Leron Successfully Completes Independent Living

Leron We would like to congratulate Leron for successfully completing our Independent Living program.  Leron was in our program for two years, and like many of our kids….there were ups and downs. However, with the right guidance and his own determination he finished the program. The low points were great learning experiences, fostered personal growth, and helped Leron develop more mature behaviors.

Leron always had a lot to offer to any gathering of our IL young people, whether it was at life skills classes or Thanksgiving.  He has displayed leadership in the program and was chosen to attend the Daniel Memorial Conference in Orlando, Florida this past August.  On this trip he further learned the skills needed to get him where he is today, on his own.

We are proud to tell you that Leron was able to sign his OWN lease on an apartment near UC, he is working good hours as a server at a local restaurant. Leron loves to interact with others, and does very well at his job.

Prior to Leron completing the IL program he was able to have lunch with his caseworker, Brad and our IL manager, Robert.  Both Brad and Robert really enjoyed the conversation, reminiscing about the DMI trip and other IL events.  Most of all they were able to share with Leron how well he has done and how he has grown into a mature young man who is taking care of himself.

We look forward to Leron’s updates in the future. We want you to know that your support of our program through furniture donations, monetary donations, and positive thoughts about our kids helps them push through difficult times and successfully complete the program.
