We NEED Furniture Donations for Independent Living

As of 2020 we no longer accept any furniture donations.

Today we are going to give you a peek inside our Independent Living (IL) program, share a BIG NEED we have for our kids in this program, and ways you can help!

Our IL program helps young people 17-21 transition away from foster care towards becoming independent young adults. When they are referred to us they go through an interview process to determine if they are a good fit for the program. If all goes well (and it usually does) they will be placed in our IL program.

When a youth is placed with us we provide them an affordable FULLY FURNISHED apartment in a chosen location. The location part is important, they will need to be close to a bus line to get to school and/or work.  Most of the time we can furnish the apartment with quality gently used furniture donations we receive from the community. We always buy a new mattress and supply them with appropriate household items and cleaning supplies. (the 12 days of Christmas baskets made a huge difference in our cleaning supply costs)

We have a lot of referrals and interviews lined up and believe we will be placing a lot of young people in this program over the next few months.  We need your help to collect more donations, so when a youth comes to us they will find a welcoming apartment.
