While we are still wishing for more summer days – we know that school will soon begin for the 400+ kids we serve monthly. Traditionally we ask our community for help with back to school items to fill backpacks for youth in all of our programs.
We currently have a very high inventory of items collected from last year. This is in part due to a large donation we received last school year and because we have many kids in foster care who are not school age. Also, because you have been so generous!
This year we will not be asking for donated items and instead will be doing a monetary fundraiser that will allow for us to meet the upcoming needs of the kid we serve. Whether you can give $5, $50 or $500 every donation will directly support a youth in CHOICES programs.
Check it out, here is how your kindness will help:
- Purchasing uniforms for kids in our home-based programs who families have very restricted budgets
- Helping pay for a portion of cost for youth sports, clubs, hobbies and interests
- Providing $100 for every new youth that enters foster care to help purchase basic clothes, shoes and hygiene items
- If we happen to run out of specific back to school supplies funds can be used to replenish those (we also will share on facebook if we have specific requests)
Donating to this fund today will help our kids start school with confidence. Your donation will help them feel included among their peers in participating in sports and clubs. Kids will know their community cares from their very first days in foster care. These enhancements are only possible because of your kind heart!
